PREP TRACK AND FIELD: Union girls storm to district title
Backed by Elizabeth Herbes’ first-place finishes in the 200- and the 400-meter race, and wins from McKenzie Evans in the 1,500 and 3,000, Union rolled to a 2A Blue Mountain Conference girls track and field championship Friday in Union.
The Bobcats broke the district and school record in the 4-by-400 relay on their way to 143 team points. Union also posted wins in the 4-by-100 as well. Katriel O’Reilly (800 meter) and Stormy Bullard (high jump) also scored wins.
Weston-McEwen/Griswold, Enterprise, Grant Union and Elgin rounded out the top five.
Enterprise’s Kaden Lathrop took four first-place medals, winning the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, the triple jump and was part of the Outlaws' 4-by-400 relay team. Enterprise totaled 169 points to win the boys district title.
David Ribich took first in the 1,500 and 3,000, and Chandler Burns (long jump), Alex Tyler (200), Nikolai Christoffersen (javelin) and Chaz Murray (800) all won their events.
Union took second, Stanfield, was third, and Elgin and Grant Union took fourth and fifth.
