The 14-year-old Babe Ruth All-Star team fell to Snake River Valley 20-8 in the opening round of bracket play.
Union County closed to within a run, 6-5, after scoring three times in the third inning.
Justin Harris came up with a two-out double to drive home all three Union County runs. Harris finished the game with three hits.
Snake River Valley used six walks, two hit batsmen and two errors to score nine runs in the fourth to pull away.
Buck Arnoldus, Derrick Peasley and Erik Jacobs
collected two hits apiece.
Union County falls in four
THE DALLES — Defense led to the demise of the Union County 13-year-old Little League All-Star team Saturday.
Astoria won the opening game of bracket play, downing Union County 12-1.
Of the 12 runs scored by Astoria, seven were unearned.
“There were a lot of great teams at the tournament,” Union County manger Greg Poor said. “The boys had a good time and it was a great
experience for them.”
