BAKER CITY CONTINUES IMPRESSIVE SHOWING

By The Observer

Baker City continued its strong play Wednesday at the District 3 Girls Little League Juniors Softball Tournament.

Baker remained unbeaten by winning its third straight, a 16-4 victory over Union County in the championship bracket.

The game was played at Pioneer Park.

The first inning set the tone as Baker scored nine runs in the top of the first inning on four hits, two walks and five Union errors.

Union scored four runs in the bottom of the first on one hits, four walks and two batters hit by pitches, but their rally was cut short and it left the bases loaded to end the inning.

From there, it was all Baker, which allowed only one hit and no runs the rest of the way.

Union County plays Pilot Rock at 3 p.m. today in the consolation bracket. The winner will face Baker at 10 a.m. Friday. If Baker loses, another game will be played at 2 p.m. Friday for the district title.

The loss eliminated Union County from district play and set up a championship game between Pendleton and Baker City for noon today. If Baker loses, a second title contest will be played at 6 p.m today.
