BAKER CITY, PENDLETON DOMINATE CONTESTS

Baker City and Pendleton used double-digit innings Monday to advance in the consolation bracket at the District 3 Girls Little League Majors Softball Tournament.

Bakers all-stars erased a 1-0 deficit by scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning in its 14-4 win over Wallowa Valley. The game ended after the fourth inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Amanda Carpenter led Baker with two hits.

Wallowa, which fell from the double-elimination tournament being held here at Pioneer Park, was paced by two hits apiece from Kayann Layton and Kerry Gleasman.

Baker will face Pendleton, a 23-13 winner over Pilot Rock, at 2 p.m. today.

Pendleton got past Pilot Rock with a 12-run third inning to take a 20-3 lead.

Pilot Rock rallied to within 20-9, but couldnt hold off a Pendleton offense that tallied 17 hits in the shortened four-inning contest.

Shanna Treloar had four hits for Pendleton, including two triples and a home run. Kelsey Swearingen, Sara Roach and Alexis Humphrey added three hits each.

Pilot Rocks offense was led by two-hit performances from Gwen Pedro, Kelsey Walker, Valerie Hall and Ashley Kannard.

In todays action, Union County will play La Grande at 4:30 p.m. in the championship semifinals. The loser will play the winner of the Baker/Pendleton contest at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
