BOYS: NYSSA UPSETS IMBLER; PINE-EAGLE OVERCOMES ELGIN

NYSSA The Nyssa boys basketball team overpowered Imbler Saturday by 52-43.

Were playing strong, Nyssa coach George Shimer said.

Nyssa did not lose the lead after Imbler sunk the first basket.

Imbler (13-9 overall, 8-4 Wapiti League) is on a three-game losing streak in the Wapiti League.

Imbler made two scoring runs at Nyssa, but Nyssa held them off.

Well be ready for districts, whatever may happen, Shimer said.

Tanner McIntosh had 12 points for Imbler. Imbler travels to Enterprise Friday.

UNION OVER ENTERPRISE

UNION Unions defense clamped down on Enterprise Saturday, enabling Union to win 53-42.

It was a great team effort on defense, Union coach Alex Steenstra said.

C.W. Dunbar and Jordi Steenstra each had five steals for Union. Union held Enterprise to one point in the third quarter.

Ace Clark had 10 rebounds, and Jordi Steenstra had 11 for Union.

Union plays Wallowa Friday.

P-E DEFEATS ELGIN

ELGIN Pine-Eagle created havoc for Elgins passers Saturday and won 6-57.

Basically, (we were) throwing it (the ball) to them, making bad decisions with the basketball, Elgin coach Kyle Evans said.

Evans said Elgin got off to a fast start, but there were too many tunrovers in the second and third quarters.

Elgin got 20 points from Brandon Burgess.

Elgin hosts Joseph on Friday.

JOSEPH WINS 12TH

JOSEPH The Joseph boys won their 12th straight Wapiti League game Saturday, rolling past Wallowa 75-56.

Wallowa slowed the game down, but Joseph stepped up the pace, Eagles coach Ron Lathrop said.

We played good defense in the third quarter, Lathrop said.

Joseph (21-1, 12-0) outscored Wallowa 20-9 in the third quarter.

Marcus Wells had 30 points for Joseph.

Joseph travels to Elgin Friday.
