BROKEN ARM KNOCKS OUT PLAYER, BUT ELGIN BOYS WIN DEBUT GAME

By The Observer

ELGIN Despite losing his son with a broken arm, Elgin boys basketball coach Kyle Evans was pleased with the Huskies 58-37 win Tuesday over the La Grande junior varsity.

For the first game, I was really pleased. Our turnovers were low and we ran our offense really well, Evans said.

His son, Brandon, broke his arm while diving for a ball. He continued to play and iced it after the game, but went to the hospital Wednesday morning to have it checked out. He will be out indefinitely, Kyle Evans said.

Tyler Davis paced Elgins attack with 20 points. Brandon Burgess pitched in 12.

La Grande got nine points each from Brenton Dowdy and Trae Perry.
