ELGIN — The Mark Nichols Bull-A-Rama kicks off Friday at the Elgin Stampede Grounds.

Among the competitors are La Grande's Vic Dubray, Elgin's Codi Burgess, and North Powder's Jared and Justin Bain.

Mark Nichols was a second generation bullfighter, a former National Champion Bullrider and College All-Around Champion.

Nichols was the 1996 Columbia River Circuit Finals Bullfighter and finalist in the Rob Smets Invitational Bullfights.

The PRCA rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Among the competitors are team ropers Mike Beers, Mel Coleman and Doyle Gellerman.

Most of the cowboys and cowgirls are from the Columbia River Circuit.

Tickets are $10 for adults in advance and $12 at the gate.

Frontier Motors is a major sponsor of the Stampede this year.

Rodeo fans at the Stampede can register in the Dodge Rodeo Sweepstakes to win a new 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins 600 Turbo Diesel. One local winner will receive a custom designed belt buckle by Montana Silversmiths. The truck will be awarded during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo next December in Las Vegas.
