Batter up: All-Star softball tournament begins Saturday

The All-Star district softball tournament will begin Saturday at Pioneer Park for minor, major and junior level players.

Tournament games will be held at Sam Marcum Field and the New Girls Field on Sunday and Monday, as well. And the tournament will conclude the following week.

On Saturday, La Grande minors (9-10 year olds) will play Milton-Freewater at 4:30 p.m. Wallowa Valley will play Pilot Rock at 11:30 a.m. Union County will play Pendleton at 2 p.m. Each of these local teams will resume action Monday in the same time slots.

As for the majors (11-12 year olds), La Grande will play Milton-Freewater at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. On Sunday, Union County will face Wallowa Valley at 2:30 p.m., and La Grande will play Pendleton at 5 p.m.

For the juniors (13-14 year olds), Union County will play Baker City at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, and La Grande plays Pilot Rock at 5 p.m. Both of these local teams will play in the same time slots Sunday, as well.

Concessions will be available. And, from 1 to 2 p.m. each day, Anderson & Perry will be supplying free snow cones.
