EOU falls to No. 12 Rocky Mountain for the second time this season
BILLINGS, Mont. — Eastern Oregon University football had its run of beating ranked teams come to an end on Saturday afternoon when the No. 12 Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears defeated EOU 45-13 in a Frontier Conference showdown.
Zach Bartlow and Dominique Blackman both threw for 110 passing yards and a touchdown for EOU, and Luis Ortiz led the receiving core with 72 yards and a touchdown against the Battlin’ Bears.
Rocky Mountain scored on its first two possessions of the game before Bartlow connected with Ortiz to make it 14-6 after a missed extra point.
But that was as close as the Mountaineers would get as the Battlin’ Bears ran the score to 45-6 by early in the fourth quarter.
Blackman found Alexander Miles on a 30-yard touchdown pass with 2:49 left in the game to round out the scoring.
Chris McGinnis-Parker was held to 53 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Bryce Baker completed 22-of-30 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns for RMC. The Battlin’ Bears outgained EOU 588-382 for the game.
With the loss, the Mountaineers fall to 2-5 on the season and 2-4 in Frontier Conference action. RMC is 6-1 overall and 5-1 in conference.
EOU returns to action Saturday when it travels to Montana Tech. Kickoff is set for noon PST.
