Eastern Oregon University's Kelsey Hill had 20 points in her team's 83-59 win Friday.
The Concordia University women’s basketball team came into the weekend with just one conference win. After an impressive offensive stretch, the Cavaliers now are now 3-9 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

Led by a season-high seven 3-pointers from Janae Klarich, Concordia picked up an 85-78 win over Eastern Oregon University in Quinn Coliseum Saturday. It’s a feat that another team hadn’t accomplished for 33 games.

The last loss for the Mountaineers at Quinn Coliseum came on Jan. 7, 2012, when then-No. 22 Corban defeated EOU, 73-59.

Klarich entered the game averaging 5.1 points per game, but the senior guard had that met with 11:58 left in the first half after making her first two 3-pointers of the game. She went 5-of-7 from behind the arc in the first half, and finished with a team-high 28 points.

The Cavaliers (6-18 overall, 3-9 CCC) led by eight at the half, and the Mountaineers did all they could to keep the winning streak going. Nicole Redd made 4-of-4 from behind the 3-point line to open the second half, helping EOU trim a lead that had grown to 15 points. A Brittney Newcomb 3-pointer, and two free throws by Nyesha Joseph, gave the Mountaineers a five-point lead with 6:19 left in the game.

The Cavaliers, who beat College of Idaho 77-75 Friday night, wouldn’t go away. Klarich’s final 3-pointer of the game was the dagger, giving Concordia a 83-78 lead with 28 seconds left in the game.

Newcomb had a team-high 28 points, while Redd finished with 19 points. Kassy Larson added 10 points.

Caitlyn McCutcheon added 24 points for Concordia, while Kelly Huey finished with 16 points.

EOU’s Kelsey Hill had an efficient night during an 83-59 win against Warner Pacific Friday night.

Hill made all three of her 3-point attempts in the first half, and finished the game with 20 points in 20 minutes on the court. She finished the game 7-of-8 from the floor, including  5-of-6 from behind the arc. Hill also had 10 rebounds in the game.

EOU used a huge rebounding advantage to pick up 21 second-chance points. The Mountaineers grabbed 20 offensive rebounds, and finished with 48 total rebounds in the game. Warner Pacific finished the game with 26 rebounds.

The Mountaineers made eight 3-pointers as a team in the first half and jumped out to a 47-25 lead against the Knights. EOU connected on 14-of-38 attempts from behind the arc.

Newcomb finished with four 3-pointers, and had a team-high 24 points. Redd added 13 points.

Courtney Walchli led the Knights with 17 points off the bench. Jessica Thones added 13 points.

The Mountaineers (19-6 overall, 11-2 overall CCC) will travel to College of Idaho Friday. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
