Cove netters beat Union, fall to Joseph

COVE — The Cove volleyball team had mixed results this weekend. The Leopards picked up a 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-11) non-league victory over Union Friday but fell to Joseph 3-1 (14-25, 23-25, 25-18, 18-25) Saturday.

“I really thought we improved on some things during the week,” Cove head coach Darcy Carreiro said. “Friday we focused on distributing the ball equally. We improved our ball control. But against Joseph, we just had an off night.”

Against the Lady Cats, Hannah Hulse had 13 digs, nine kills and six serving aces for Cove. McKayla Murchison added six kills and four digs, while Hailey Hulse had eight blocks and five kills. Skyla DeLint had seven digs and four serving aces.

In Saturday’s loss to Joseph, Hailey Hulse had 13 kills, 10 digs and eight blocks for Cove. Murchison had seven digs and six kills, and Hannah Hulse had 13 digs and seven kills.

Badgers pick up wins

The Powder Valley volleyball team won two matches over the weekend. The Badgers beat Notus, Idaho, Friday 26-24, 32-30, 26-24.

Alexandra Colton had 26 assists and 15 serves for the Badgers. Taylor Martin had 11 digs and three kills, Alyssa Aldrich had 13 kills, and McKinsey Hampton had nine kills.
