UNION — Good weather helped local golfers log some good scores Friday when  Buffalo Peak Golf Course in Union Friday hosted a 2A Invite.

Cove’s Sergio Morris seem to take the most adavantage of the mild weather, setting the pace with a score of 74 on the Par 72 course.

Other than a bogey at the sixth hole and another at the 10th, Morris had a clean card full of pars as he grabbed the indvidual crown.

Grant Union’s Chris Gibson (77) and Mike Moles (79) finished second and third behind Morris, respectively.

Pierce Millar of Wallowa fired an 82 to finish in fourth place. Millar had one birdie on the day at the par-5 11th hole.

Enterprise’s Cody Hopkins was three back with an 85 to  place fifth, while teammate Brock Hayes shot an 86 to tie for sixth place.

Dakota Jenkins (92), Jordan Wulff (94) and Cody Duquette (97) all broke 100 for the Enterprise varsity, while Cove’s Colton DeMeeleer finished with a 95.

Karl Wellens of Wallowa shot a 97, while Cove’s Hunter Jones finished with a 101. Forrest Smith, also of Cove, shot a 111.

Chance Wipple led the Union attack with a 103, and teammate Tyler Baxter carded a 114.

Cody White (94) and Casey Marino (96) also had good outings playing for the Enterprise junior varsity squad.

For the girls, it was Wallowa’s Shawna Chrisman who edged Enterprise’s Hayley Riggs for first place.

Chrisman carded a 93 on the day, just one better than that of Riggs.

Both Chrisman and Riggs finished with four pars.

Jill Morton of Enterprise placed third with a 98, while teammate McKenna Miller was two back with a 100.

Union’s Rachelle Southard (113) and teammate Brie Bunkers (114) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

Cove’s Megan Espinola fired a 131, while Stephanie George of Enterprise shot 136.

Josie Southard of Union carded a 142, and Micah Parker of Cove shot 144.

Enterprise will host a tournament Friday before the district tournament scheduled to begin Monday at the Pendleton Country Club.
