DEMING NAMED 3A BOYS SWIM COACH OF THE YEAR
By The Observer
David Deming is quick to explain why he was named the Class 3A coach of the year for boys swimming.
I owe a lot of it to the kids, both the boys team and the girls team, said Deming, who was honored Saturday by the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association at a banquet in Eugene.
Those kids push you and try to make you a better coach year in and year out.
Deming led the La Grande High School boys team to a state championship in February. His girls team finished third at the state meet.
Its quite an honor to be selected for it, Deming said. The kids performances, though, definitely aided me in getting selected for this award.
