IMBLER Joseph took control early in both volleyball games of its Wapiti League road match Friday.

The Eagles earned a 15-4, 15-8 win over the hosting Imbler Panthers behind an attack that featured several Joseph players.

Licia Miller led the Eagles (3-5 overall, 1-0 league) with eight kills, followed by Kendra Carpenter and Anna Yost with four kills each.

Joseph, behind Megon OBriens eight service points, took a 9-2 lead in the first game. Samantha Parker served the final four points, capped by a game-winning Lea Ganos block.

In the second game, Joseph stormed to a 12-3 lead. The Panthers (3-6, 0-1) rallied to within 14-8, but Carpenter nailed home the game-winning point for the Eagles.

Everyone on the team contributed, Joseph coach Kendall Hayes said. We got our team back and came together.

Joseph had been missing several starters due to disciplinary reasons since the start of the season.

Wallowa thumps P-E

WALLOWA In a repeat of last Saturdays win, Wallowa easily beat Pine Eagle Friday.

The hosting Cougars won their Wapiti League opener, 15-1, 15-8, behind 97 percent serving.

We were down 8-2 in the second game before coming back, Wallowa coach Terri Wilson said.

JulieAnn Snyder led Wallowa (8-3, 1-0) with nine digs and 12-for-12 serving. Snyder was joined by Holli Barton and Lynique Oveson with a 100 percent passing night. Laura Lewis added six digs.

Union edges Enterprise

ENTERPRISE Union pulled off an early upset by beating Enterprise Friday.

The visiting Bobcats defeated the defending Wapiti League champs 15-13, 8-15, 16-14. Union improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.

Unfortunately, we were very streaky. We had a lack of mental toughness and leadership, Enterprise coach Lisa Farwell said.

Ashley Anderson led Enterprise (7-2, 0-1) with 12 kills. Ashley Beach was 100 percent serving with nine digs.

Union played very well. They came out really strong and blocked a couple shots right off the bat, Farwell said.

Cove pounds Crane

CRANE Cove easily picked up its second Old Oregon League win of the season Friday by beating Crane 15-1, 15-5.

The Leopards improved to 9-0 for the season and 2-0 in league play.

Cove received strong serving, going for 98 percent, with Lisa Scheele going 14-for-14 with six aces. Kelcie Robinson went 8-for-9 with six kills.

Our second game we were able to utilize our bench, which was nice for our other girls to get some experience, Cove coach Kim Tally said. Its always nice to get a win, espeically on a long road trip.

Elgin falls at Nyssa

NYSSA The road wasnt the best place for Elgin to start its Wapiti League season.

The Huskies fell 15-6, 15-3 to the hosting Nyssa Bulldogs Friday. The loss dropped Elgin to 4-5 for the season and 0-1 in league action.
