Whatever "it" is, the Eastern Oregon baseball team would like to bottle it for the remainder of the NAIA Region I season.

The Mountaineers belted nine home runs total in Saturday's doubleheader against Western Baptist. They had seven homers in game two.

Eastern blew out Western Baptist in the nightcap, winning 15-8. The Mountaineers rallied in bottom of the ninth of their NAIA Region I opener before losing 10-9.

Similar to Friday's nightcap, Eastern thumped the Warriors in game two. The Mountaineers were hot with the bats in Saturday's nightcap in the 30-mph wind.

Eastern's Jeff Frost smacked a home run over the left field fence, driving in three runs in the first inning. Designated hitter Glen Baker followed with a solo home run over the left field fence.

Frost hit a double in the second inning. Teammate Jesse Longoria blasted the ball over the fence, driving in two runs in the second inning. That gave the Mountaineers an 8-0 lead.

They added three more runs in the third before the Warriors scored one run in the fourth.

The Warriors rallied with two outs in the eighth. They scored four runs to cut the deficit to 14-8, but the Mountaineers did not let up.

Longoria came in to pitch in the eighth to pick up the final out. He fanned three batters in the ninth.

In game one, Longoria cranked a three-run home run to cut the deficit to 10-8. Kyle Kirsch belted a solo homer to pull the Mountaineers to within 10-9. An infield fly and grounder ended the rally.

The Mountaineers travel to Klamath Falls to take on Oregon Tech Saturday.
