EASTERN SOCCER WOMEN HURT BY CENTRAL WASHINGTON FAST START
The Eastern Oregon soccer women couldn't build on the momentum of a 11-0 win over the weekend, losing to Central Washington 4-1 on a wet and rainy afternoon Wednesday.
Central Washington got out to a 3-0 halftime lead. The Wildcats' Shelly Campbell scored the first two goals of the match, and Amanda Malik scored the third goal of the half.
EOU scored when Cydney Topping booted in a goal on a penalty kick in the 56th minute. Central Washington was called for pushing in the box on an EOU corner.
It was Topping's sixth goal of the season, which leads the Mountaineers.
Central Washington's Lindsey Conway scored on a crossbar rebound in the 71st minute to end the scoring.
The Mountaineers had 11 shots, while Central Washington got off 28. EOU came in to the match 1-1-1 over its last three matches.
Eastern Oregon (1-12-1) will play its last home game of the season at 2 p.m. Saturday against Western Baptist, the first-place team in the Southern Division of the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
