EASTERN SPLITS ROAD TWIN BILL WITH ALBERTSON
CALDWELL, Idaho The Eastern Oregon baseball team won the final game of this weekend's four-game series with Albertson.
The Mountaineers (3-14 overall, 2-7 NAIA Region I) scored five unearned runs in Sunday's nightcap, winning 7-4. In Sunday's opener, Eastern fell 14-12.
Landon Johnston went 2-for-4 with three runs in Eastern's win. Pitcher Brandon Ferguson picked up the victory.
The Mountaineers trailed 9-1 in game one before rallying with eight runs late. Pitcher Andrew Hall stuck out Eastern's R.J. Farrell to end the game.
On Saturday, the Mountaineers lost 5-3 and 7-4.
In the opener, the Mountaineers rallied with three runs in the sixth.
Then in the nightcap, the Mountaineers grabbed a 1-0 lead off Jeff Frost's solo home run in the first inning.
Albertson scored three runs in the fourth.
Frost cranked his second homer of the game in the sixth driving in two runs to tie the game at 4-4.
Albertson put the game out of reach with three runs in the ninth.
The Mountaineers host Western Baptist in a four game-series March 26-27.
