EASTERN WOMEN CAN'T HOLD SECOND-HALF LEAD

SALEM — The Eastern Oregon basketball women came from well behind to win their Cascade Collegiate Conference opener against Concordia Tuesday, but Wednesday night they found out how the other half of that equation feels.

The Mountaineer women had a five-point lead midway through the second half, but gave up a 15-0 run as the Warriors (1-1, 4-6) took the game 79-67. Eastern gave up 49 second-half points.

The loss leaves the Mountaineer women at 1-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play (3-5 overall).

Jamie Jo Cant continued her hot shooting for Eastern, scoring 27 points on 5-for-10 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

Tricia Haddock had 11 points and four assists, while Cory Nelson had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Western Baptist was led by Tati Gallardo, who hit five three-pointers and scored 24, and Toran Lundgren, who scored 20.

The women have a 12-day break between games over the holidays. They next play at home against Westminster College Dec. 30.
