EASTERN WOMEN CRACK TOP 25
The Eastern Oregon women received prestigious team and individual honors this week.
After nine straight wins and a 16-2 start to the season, the Mountaineers finally cracked the NAIA Division II Top 25 poll Tuesday.
The last time the Mountaineers were ranked was in the final poll of 2001-02 in the No. 16 spot. That team finished 20-5 and ended the season with a loss to Albertson in the CCC semifinals. That team had a program-record 14-game win streak.
The women are leading the CCC in offense, shooting percentage and defense and have knocked off one then-ranked opponent Oregon Tech.
Eastern's Jamie Jo Cant was also named the CCC player of the week for Jan. 18-24. It was the second time this season she was honored.
Cant led the Mountaineers to wins on the road at Northwest College and The Evergreen State College. She averaged 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in those wins.
