EASTERN WOMEN WIN SEVENTH STRAIGHT

KIRKLAND, Wash. — The Eastern Oregon women avenged their only Cascade Collegiate Conference basketball loss after dispatching Northwest College 61-55 Friday.

The Mountaineers (8-1 in CCC, 14-2 overall) held the Eagles to 24.1 percent shooting in the second half to win their seventh straight game.

The Eagles led 33-30 at halftime before the Mountaineers turned up the defense in the second half.

A trio of Mountaineers were in double figures with Jamie Jo Cant leading the way with 19 points, followed by Cory Nelson's 12 and Christie Weaver chipping in 10 off the bench.

Nelson and Michelle Kinley each pulled down eight rebounds. Tricia Haddock had eight assists.

The Eagles (7-3 CCC) were led by Jennifer DeYoung's 16 points.

The Mountaineers continue their road trip with a game at Evergreen State today.
