ENTERPRISE Ashley Anderson was one assist from a triple double Friday night.

The Enterprise forward tipped off the Wapiti League girls basketball action with a 22-point, 18-rebound performance against the Union Bobcats, lifting her team to a 66-40 victory.

She came to play, Enterprise coach Mike Crawford said. What was most important was she had nine assists. I like the fact that we had 19 assists as a team.

Union (2-7 overall, 0-1 league) tried to run with Enterprise (6-3, 1-0) but couldnt keep up in the first quarter, when Enterprise took a 21-9 lead.

Kazzie Dawson and Anderson each had six points in the period, and Anderson had 12 by halftime. She added eight in the third quarter, most of them on offensive rebounds she put back for buckets.

We looked like an entirely different ballclub than when we played Santiam, Crawford said. Fifth-ranked Santiam beat fourth-ranked Enterprise 56-41 last weekend at the Oregon Trail Classic in Pendleton.

Lacey Nobles added 13 points for Enterprise and Dawson scored 12.

Kallin Prince led Union with 15 points, but seven of those came in the fourth quarter. Sarah Bomberger scored 10 points.

Enterprise visits Pine Eagle today, while Union hosts Imbler.

COUGARS KEEP BALL, WIN

WALLOWA The Wallowa Cougars cut down on their turnovers and turned up a 54-31 Wapiti League victory Friday over the Joseph Eagles.

We had 16 turnovers, and eight of them were in the second quarter, so we did a pretty decent job of taking care of the basketball, Wallowa coach Greg Oveson said.

It helped that the Cougars rebounded well, with 23 boards in the second half. They also had a 28-13 lead at halftime and roaring to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter.

We are getting better. Were starting to get some pretty good movement in our offense and were starting to get some points because of it, Oveson said.

Amanda Wilson scored 13 points for Wallowa (6-4, 1-0), with Lynique Oveson and Larae Guillory each scoring 10.

Joseph (2-6, 0-1) got 10 points from Mollie Broadbent.

The Cougars visit Elgin today, while Joseph has the day off.

ROBINSON PACES COVE

COVE Kelcie Robinson was too much Friday night for the Jordan Valley Mustangs to handle.

Robinson scored a game-high 18 points and led the Cove Leopards to a 61-36 Old Oregon League victory.

Jordan Valley just got a mouthful of Robinson tonight, Cove coach Dick Royes said.

It wasnt just Robinson, however. Kathy Mann and Lisa Scheele each scored 11 points and Jennifer Johnson had a breakthrough game with eight points. Johnson had a leg injury during the preseason.

It was real exciting to see her break out like that, Royes said.

Cove (6-2, 1-0) visits Prairie City today.
