ENTERPRISE GOLF BOYS STATE CHAMPS

CORVALLIS For the fourth time in five years, the Enterprise boys are the best at the 2A/1A golf level. Enterprise won its fourth state title in five years with a superb 311 on the second day to clinch the title Tuesday at the Trysting Tree Golf Club. Enterprise shot a 629 for the two-day tournament behind solid individual performances. "We had three guys in the 70s," Enterprise coach Mike Crawford said. "We had a good day." Kevin Gomes' 75, Nathan Slinker's 79 and Jake Thompson's 76 helped Enterprise stay in the lead Tuesday. In second was St. Mary's with a 649, followed by Regis' 650. Reedsport, Santiam Christian and Echo tied for fourth with 654. "The boys' number is a record for the tournament," Crawford said. "It was a record for the second day." Crawford said they shot well as a team. "They all played really well." Gomes tied for sixth place with a two-day score of 155, while Derek Huff tied for 10th with a 159. Slinker shot a 160, Grady Rawls a 161 and Thompson a 163. All five Enterprise golfers finished in the top 20. |
