ORANGE, Calif – The Eastern Oregon University softball team is 3-0 at the SunWest Invitational after being rained out Saturday.

In the three games, all Sunday, Eastern defeated SUNY-Ithaca (N.Y.) 12-0 in the first game, St. Olaf (Minn.) 13-2 in the second game and Elmhurst (Ill.) 13-5 in the last game.

Kelly West picked up the win versus SUNY-Ithaca after Shannon Rasmussen pitched the first three innings.

Against St. Olaf, Kate Sinnott was the winning pitcher and Rasmussen pitched a complete game for the victory against Elmhurst.

"We're really hitting the ball well," EOU head coach Anji Weissenfluh said. "Hannah Shelley, especially, is really pounding the ball."

Shelley, a junior transfer from Spokane Falls Community College, hit three home runs Sunday.

EOU returns to action today for two games, taking on St. Mary's (Minn.) at 10:45 a.m. and St. Thomas (Minn.) at 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday, EOU plays Doane (Neb.) at 10:45 a.m. and then a make-up game against Hope International (Calif.) at 3:30 p.m.

"I thought that the three teams we played Sunday got incrementally better," Weissenfluh said. "The first team was pretty weak, the second one was okay and Elmhurst was pretty tough. Rasmussen had to work pretty hard."
