EOU continues hot streak to open the season
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The No. 21 Eastern Oregon University volleyball team wrapped up its Florida road trip with wins over Mobile College (Ala.) and No. 10 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) Saturday.
The Mountaineers defeated the Rams 3-1 (28-26, 25-9, 23-25, 25-14) before upsetting the Eagles 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 25-10) to wrap up the trip.
Stefani Sorensen led the Mountaineers on the day with 31 kills and Casey Loper followed with 26 kills. Karly Stack dished out 54 assists in the matches.
“The girls played great tonight. They played as a team and improved on the aspects that needed work earlier in the day,” EOU head coach Kaki Morehead said. “I am very proud of them for working hard against a strong Embry-Riddle team.”
Eastern Oregon had wins over Webber International (Fla.) and Talladega College (Ala.) earlier during the road trip. The one loss came to No.5 Oklahoma Baptist University.
EOU returns to the court on Friday when it opens up Cascade Collegiate Conference action against College of Idaho at 7 p.m. at Quinn Coliseum.
This will be the first home match for the Mountaineers.
