Eastern Oregon swept Saturday's battle with winless Evergreen State
College to stay in a tie with Concordia for third in the Cascade
Conference volleyball race.
The Geoducks fell in three (25-10, 25-16, 25-20), improving the
Mountaineers' record to 9-4 in conference and 16-6 overall.
The loss kept Evergreen winless for the season (0-21) and in
conference play (0-12).
Eastern is two games behind Southern Oregon (10-2) and four behind
College of Idaho. The Lady Yotes lead the conference with a 13-0 mark
and are 16-4 for the season.
Rebecca Haight had a match-high 8 kills and added 7 digs for the
Mountaineers. Alisha Crane, Stefani Sorensen and Casey Loper each had
seven kills. Karly Stack and Jessica Perron led the Mountaineers in
assists, with 14 apiece. Taylor Stewart guided the Mountaineers'
defense with 8 digs.

lead to three (17-14). Evergreen would make a comeback and take the
lead 18-19 but EOU responded and would go on to win the set and match
Stephanie Peshlakai-John led Evergreen's offense with eight kills and
added three digs. Sasha Nash recorded a double-double with 19 assists
and 11 digs for the Geoducks,
Eastern will host College of Idaho Friday.
Mounties clip Eagles
Eastern Oregon won it's third straight match Friday, 3-1, at Quinn
Coliseum against Northwest University,14-24, 14-25, 25-22, 25-20.
For the second time this year the Mountaineers (15-6, 8-4 CCC) beat
the Eagles (12-8, 6-5 CCC) after dropping the first set.
EOU's Casey Loper recorded a team-high 13 kills. Irene Waters added 8
kills, Stefani Sorensen, Katie Keeney, and Taylor Stewart all chipped
in with 7. Karly Stack had 23 assists and 11 digs on the night, while
Kaitlyn Duncan added a team high 23 digs.
“Northwest was a tough team to beat, I am proud of how the girls came
back after losing the first game to win the next three” said coach
Kaki Morehead. “They showed heart and tenacity tonight.”
Breanna Covey led Northwest with 16 kills, while Arika Zwack added 10
kills. Megan Dees finished with 23 assists and 12 digs.
