EOU sweeps homecoming weekend

Eastern came away with a Cascade Conference win, defeating Corban, 25-13, 25-23, 25-15 Saturday.

“It was a great homecoming weekend for us,” head coach Kaki Morehead stated. “We played well in front of our home crowd and took care of business.”


The Mountaineers were led by Grace DeBoodt with eight kills and six digs. Jessica Lea had eight kills and 18 assists.

Leigh Anne MacCarthy contributed with seven digs, Emily Sampson 11 assists and Haley McEnroe six kills.

Chandra Baskoro led Corban with eight kills, Megan Dees 16 assists and Rebecca Franke with 12 digs.

EOU now sits at 9-4 in Cascade Conference play, 11-7 overall, Corban 6-7, 8-14 overall.

The Mountaineers still sit in fourth place in CCC play. Corban sits in sixth. Southern Oregon and College of Idaho are still tied for first at 12-1.

EOU is on the road against Northwest University and The Evergreen State College, Friday and Saturday. Both games are set for 7 p.m.

In their last meeting Oct. 3, the Mountaineers beat Northwest University 25-15,

25-18, 25-14 and The Evergreen State College on Oct. 2, 25-10, 25-16, 25-12. from Friday

 The Mountaineers opened up homecoming with an easy win Friday over Northwest Christian winning in three straight games, 25-9, 25-13, 25-12.

EOU was led by Jessica Lea with nine kills, 16 assists and five digs. Teammates Grace Deboodt and Melanie Ceciliani contributed with seven kills each.

Chelsea Herron collected 14 assists.

Northwest Christian was led by Emily Miller with seven kills. Whitney Hoff had 11 assists and eight digs.  Mercedes Leclaire recorded eight digs.

“It was a good win for us tonight. Everyone played consistently and did their jobs well” EOU head coach Kaki Morehead said.
