Eagles pick up first win, Wallowa continues to roll

NIXYAAWII — The Joseph football team picked up its first win Friday.

On the road, the Eagles defeated Nixyaawii 70-30.

 Quarterback Zach Staidle connected with B.J. Warnock for four touchdowns, and running back Trevor Lewis run for 130 yards.

Isiaih Case led Nixyaawii with 104 passing yards, completing 15 of his 22 passes.

Anthony Bonifer led the Golden Eagles with three touchdowns, picking up 236 yards on 20 carries.

Joseph will travel to Cove for a 4 p.m. kickoff Friday.


Cougars crush Touchet

TOUCHET, Wash. — The Wallowa Cougars dominated the opposition, Touchet, Wash.,  66-16 Friday.

Tyler Harshfield led the Cougar attack with 150 yards rushing and 299 yards through the air. He accounted for six touchdowns.

Games are stopped after a team leads by 45 points or more in Washington.

Wallowa will travel to Imbler for a 2 p.m. kickoff Friday.

Cove claws past Tri-Cities Prep

PASCO — Jared Witty helped lead Cove past Tri-Cities Prep Friday

The senior quarterback ran for 132 yards and four touchdowns while also passing for 189 yards and four touchdowns.

Jordan Brown hauled in all four touchdown passes. Brown ended the game with 122 receiving yards with five receptions.

The Jaguars played without all-state quarterback Will Hoppes, who sat out with an injured shoulder.

He was replaced by freshman Evan Whitsett, who passed for 183 yards and three touchdowns but also had four interceptions.   

The Leopards will host Joseph at 4 p.m. Friday.
