Enterprise finishes 7th

PENDLETON Two bad really bad quarters sank Enterprises hopes for a fourth-place trophy at the OSAA-U.S. Bank Class 2A Girls Basketball State Championships.

Knappa outscored Enterprise 38-5 in the second and third quarters and rolled to a 68-41 victory Saturday morning at the Pendleton Convention Center.

I dont know if theres a bona fide reason for what happened, Enterprise coach Mike Crawford said. They were on fire, and we definitely were not. The lid was on (the basket) and the harder we tried, the worse it got.

Enterprise scored just one free throw in the second quarter, letting a 13-12 lead after the first quarter quickly evaporate. Crawford felt his team was tired after playing four games since Tuesday.

We had some decent looks. There was a lot of fatigue involved, no doubt about it, he said. I dont want to take away from Knappa. They played a great game.

Knappas Toni Ramvick was her teams leader, scoring 25 points, including three 3-pointers, on 11-for-22 shooting. Renee Evans added 14 rebounds and 11 points.

Lacey Nobles scored 11 points to lead Enterprise, which has had a trophy at the state tournament for seven years in a row.

We set our sights pretty high and its one of those things where if you dont realize your goal youre disappointed, Crawford said. Its awfully difficult to be disappointed when you finish in the top 10 in the state. Seven years in a row, we cant complain.
