UNION — Union bounced back from a tough loss Friday, to pick up its second conference win of the season.

The Bobcats girls basketball team jumped out to a 38-14 lead against Heppner, and went on to win 57-36. 

Keesha Sarman went 12-of-12 from the free-throw line and finished with a game-high 28 points. Carsyn Roberts added 10 points in her second full week of action on the court after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Blake Greenup led Heppner with 12 points. 

Pilot Rock picked up a 54-47 win against Union Friday, its second consecutive win against the Bobcats this season, but first in Blue Mountain Conference play. 

Madison Dave, who scored 31 points in the first meeting, was held to 13 points in the game. She fouled out of the game with 4:35 left to play in the fourth, but Union couldn’t capitalize.

The Bobcats lost Sarman to fouls about a minute later, and the Rockets pulled away without Union’s primary ball handler on the floor.

Sarman finished with 20 points. Sarah Good scored 10 points, while Elly Wells added eight points. 

Union (9-2) will travel to Weston-McEwen for a 6 p.m. game Tuesday.

Huskies grab BMC win

ELGIN — A great start turned into a rough finish this weekend for Elgin.

The Huskies girls basketball team fell to Weston-McEwen 48-32 Saturday, getting little offense in the first half. Elgin trailed 27-10. Behind Miah Slater’s 13 points, the Huskies tried to come back, but the hole was too deep.

Jordyn Anderson added six points for Elgin.

The weekend got off to a great start with a 39-35 win against Grant Union.

The Huskies outscored the Prospectors 26-20 in the second half to come away with the win. 

Slater led Elgin with 13 points. Anderson and Katie Witherspoon each scored eight points.

Elgin will host Enterprise at 6 p.m. Tuesday. 

Outlaws fall to Irrigon

ENTERPRISE — After a close first half, Enterprise couldn’t keep up with Irrigon Friday.

The Outlaws girls basketball team fell to Irrigon 42-36. The Knights trailed 22-17, but took the lead by outscoring Enterprise 20-7 in the third quarter.  

Senior Hannah Schaafsma recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Hayley Riggs recorded a more unconventional double-double with 10 points and 12 steals. 

Enterprise (4-6) will travel to Elgin for a 6 p.m. game Tuesday.

Imbler brings home win

NOTUS, Idaho — Imbler kept winning, picking up its eighth win of the season, but did it in an easier way Saturday.

The Panthers girls basketball team cruised to a 50-30 win against Notus, Idaho. Imbler has won four out of its last five.

Lexee Robertson and Emma Bowers helped break the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Notus 25-10. Robertson scored 10 points in the quarter and Bowers added seven points. Robertson paced Imbler with 20 points in the game, while Bowers scored 11.  

Malia Mills added 12 points for the Panthers.

The Panthers (8-3) will host Wallowa at 6 p.m. Friday, in a game that was scheduled for Jan. 25.

Badgers rally on the road

PRAIRIE CITY — The Powder Valley girls basketball team battled back for a big road win, and won its third straight game.

The Badgers rallied back from a 26-19 halftime deficit to win 47-44 Friday.

Bailee Allen iced the game with a pair of free throws in the final seconds, finishing 3-of-6 for the line. Allen scored nine points in the game.

Alexandra Colton led Powder Valley with 19 points, and Sally Blair scored eight points.

Amy Black and Kailey Kell led Prairie City (4-4) with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Powder Valley (6-3) will travel to Imbler for a 4 p.m. game Saturday. 

Murchison leads Cove

COVE — Mikayla Murchison got the ball rolling for Cove Friday, scoring 10 of her team-high 11 points in the first half. 

The Leopards girls basketball team used the strong start by the senior to get a 38-30 win at home against Adrian. Cove jumped out to a 21-12 lead at the half. 

Kyndal Murchison added 10 points for the Leopards, who with the win, have won back-to-back games for the second time this season. Molly Delcurto and Kayla Johnson each added six points.

Adrian (4-4) was led by Quincy Pendergrass with eight points.

Cove (4-6) will host Joseph at 4 p.m. Saturday.
