Gambill earns La Grande win

ELGIN — Someone needs to talk to Josh Gambill about selfishness. But maybe after the 11/12 All-Star tournament run is over. Gambill propelled La Grande past Union County 13-5 Monday. "What can you say,” La Grande manager Allen Childs said. “(Josh) did it all. He’s usually a little tentative, but not today.” Gambill took matters into his own hands on the mound. He started the game, and struck out three batters in three innings of work. He more than made up for that run with his bat. Gambill put La Grande on the board with a two-run home run in the second. He finished the day 4-for-4 with five RBIs — tacking on another home run. Troy Williams showed off his power for the second straight day, hitting a home run and driving in three runs. Jacob Chamberlain collected three hits in the game and drove in two runs. “It was a little bit different today,” Childs said. “Everyone came through and got hits. Now we just need to keep it rolling.” La Grande will face Harney County at 3 p.m. today.
