Garnett takes shot put crown in Stanfield

STANFIELD — Joseph filled up the top spots in the field events at the Hornya Invitational hosted by Stanfield.

Ben Garnett took home a first-place 42 foot, 7.5 inch heave in the shot put.

He also grabbed a second-place finish in the with a 137 foot, 4 inch throw.

Teammate Clancy Warnock threw the javelin 149 feet, 7 inches to bring home the first-place medal.

On the track Nick West of Imbler continued to dominate in the hurdles.

West won the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.78.

Union took charge in the distance races.

Tom Sheehy won the 1,500-meter run in 4:35.28.

Teammate Cory Bennett finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a 10:53.99 mark.

On the girls side,  Kate Jones and Candra Clark paced Powder Valley.

Jones took third in the 300-meter low hurdles.

Clark finished second in the shot put with a 30 foot, 5 inch mark.

Cove freshman Jamie Murchison grabbed a third-place finish in the 800-meter run.

The Joseph girls followed in the boys footsteps by grabbing top finishes in the girls events.

Megan Yost took first in the javelin with a 120 foot, 5 inch toss.

Paige Bailey took the pole vault crown by clearing 7 feet, six inches.

Lena Moro’s mark of 14 feet, 5 inches sealed first-place in the long jump.

Reva West led Imbler with a runner-up finish in the pole vault. West cleared the seven foot mark.

Stephanie Anthony grabbed a pair of third-place medals for the Panthers.

Anthony’s mark 30 feet, 5.25 inches led all area attempts in the triple jump.
