LA GRANDE — Sixty-seven golfers from around the region converged for the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation’s 19th Annual Grande Ronde Amateur Golf Tournament.
The tournament included 18-holes of individual stroke play at the La Grande Country Club on Sept. 14 under perfect conditions and golfers braved strong winds at Buffalo Peak Golf Course in Union on Sept. 15 to round out the event.
This year’s tournament, crowned Ricky Gloria the overall champion with a score of 149.
Gloria golfed for the La Grande Tigers during his high school career.
On Sunday, following regular play, a field of 20 golfers teamed up to compete in the six-hole alternate shot Sole Survivor.
A large crowd of spectators gathered to watch Cedric Shanks and Lonnie Myers persevere to win the 2013 Sole Survivor competition.

“It takes a lot of planning and support to hold such a top-notch tournament. We had a great tournament and all the dollars raised from it go to support the health care needs of our community,” Simons said.
This year, 100 percent of the proceeds are dedicated to the remodeling of the Grande Ronde Hospital radiology department’s ultrasound imaging Suites.
The new ultrasound suites will be larger, more private, and allow for better training for student ultrasound technicians.
The remodel is presently under way and should be complete later this fall.
