The games last shot certainly wasnt necessary, but it set a record for Eastern Oregon point guard Tricia Haddock.

Haddocks pass to Brooke Sellards, who sank a long 3-pointer with a second to play, was her 12th assist of the night, tying the school single-game record set by Anji Weissenfluh, Easterns coach, in 1991 against Warner Pacific, and tied by Sarah Wilder in 1996 against Pacific.

It capped Easterns 88-61 Cascade Collegiate Conference womens basketball victory Saturday over Warner Pacific at Quinn Coliseum that left EOU with an 18-2 overall and 11-1 league record.

The pass and basket involved two players Weissenfluh called the teams most valuable players.

Haddock fell one short of the record Wednesday against Albertson, and she had a double-double Saturday with 13 points. Sellards also had a double-double, scoring a game-high 28 points and pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Trish, shes very, very valuable to us for what she does the entire game, Weissenfluh said. Brooke, (we need) her offensive game and defensive punch. We go if they go, and we dont go if they dont.

Haddock played all but three minutes in a game that was decided midway through the first half. Weissenfluh played her bench more than she has in recent games. Sellards had 16 points by halftime.

Starting guard Rachelle Stockman added 16 points and eight rebounds for the game, including three 3-pointers. Danielle Dianda came off the bench with 10 points, and Heather Epeldi added 10 rebounds off the bench.

Weissenfluh considered the game a tuneup for next weeks road trip to Southern Oregon and Western Baptist. Eastern worked on playing against a zone defense, which Southern will present, and on blocking out and valuing the ball.

The Mountaineers had 30 turnovers Wednesday against Albertson; they had 15 against Warner Pacific. Eastern also outrebounded Warner Pacific 50-33, including an 18-7 edge on the offensive boards.
