ELGIN — Elgin’s Jake Burgess and Enterprise’s Damon Greenshields went head-to-head in Elgin Tuesday night. Greenshields won the individual battle, but the Huskies won the war.
The Elgin boys basketball team picked up a 72-58 win against the Outlaws behind Burgess’ team-high 28 points.
The junior connected on five 3-point shots, with three coming in the third quarter.
Greenshields dominated the scoring for Enterprise, finishing with a game-high 29 points.
The Outlaws used their fast-break offense to build a 14-11 lead after one quarter.
It was all Elgin after that. Carson Reid added 13 points. Gavin Christenson and Gage Little each scored 10 points.
David Ribich scored 11 points for the Outlaws, who have now dropped four straight Blue Mountain Conference games.
The Huskies have won back-to back games, improving to 2-2 in conference play.
Elgin (4-7) will travel to Union for a 7:30 p.m. game Friday.
Enterprise (4-6) will host Union at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
