IMBLER — Defense sparked the Imbler boys to a 61-47 non-league basketball win over the Weston-McEwen TigerScots Tuesday.

"Our press helped tonight," Imbler coach Ken Kramer said.

The Panthers raced out to a 21-14 lead in the second quarter.

Troy Hoskins' three-point play pushed the lead to 29-16.

The Panthers outscored the Tiger Scots 18-8 in the second quarter to end the first half with a 33-20 lead.

Tanner McIntosh's putback gave the Panthers their largest lead at 47-24 in the third quarter.

The TigerScots cut the lead to 54-39 after Darrell Robertson's bucket in the fourth quarter. But the Panthers answered with McIntosh's baseline jumper.

Then McIntosh's block led to Alan O'Donald's three-pointer to build the lead back to 59-39.

"I'm pleased tonight," Kramer said. "We put out the effort."

McIntosh drained four three-pointers to lead all scorers with 28 points.

Jimmy King led the Tiger Scots with 12 points.

The Panthers (1-0) host Pilot Rock Friday.
