HALFWAY — Imbler swept its doubleheader Saturday at Pine Eagle, 8-5, 11-0. In the second game, Imbler senior starter Nick Thompson held Pine Eagle to one hit through five innings. He was calm. He was controlled. He was locating his pitches. At the plate, Taylor McIntosh (home run, 3 RBI), Sean Peterson (double, RBI) and Thompson (2 RBI) led the way. In the first game, it was Thompson (3-for-3), Joe Coughlan (RBI), McIntosh (2-for-3, 5 RBI) and Gary Cornford (RBI) standing out. Imbler defeated Adrian on April 8, 17-5. At the plate, Thompson had 2 RBI, and Jake Noyes, Cornford and McIntosh each had 3 RBI. Noyes and McIntosh hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth. Then, in the second game, Imbler was ahead, 12-3, but snow canceled the contest, ending a good performance on the mound for Coughlan. “It’s too bad for Joe,” Imbler coach Monty McIntosh said, “because he was really throwing a great game.” So that’s three straight victories for Imbler. “They’re playing hard and I really like what they’re doing,” Monty McIntosh said.
