Imbler drops Union
IMBLER — The Imbler volleyball team picked up a non-league win over Union Tuesday night, cruising to a 25-22, 25-15, 25-14 victory.
Imbler improves to 15-0 overall and remains 4-0 in the Old Oregon League. Union is now 8-8 overall and sits at 6-2 in the Blue Mountain Conference.
“We started off a little slow in the first set,” Imbler head coach Jennifer Teeter said. “Union was playing scrappy defense. We knew it’d be a good challenge for us.”
Malia Mills had 10 kills and 25 digs for Imbler, while Emma Bowers added nine kills and 10 digs. Hannah Wilhelm finished with 20 digs, Ally Fullerton had 10 digs and Jacey Teeter finished with 28 assists.
Viki McCabe led the Union attack with nine kills. Jaiden Wright had four kills, Keesha Sarman had 12 digs and Chelsie Houck finished with 10 digs.
Elgin sweeps Helix
ELGIN — The Lady Huskies swept Helix 25-23, 25-14, 25-23 Tuesday night in a non-league game. The win improves Elgin to 5-8 overall.
“Our girls played well tonight as a team,” Elgin head coach Carmen Gentry said. “Stormy Silver and Miah Slater had several kills that really shut down Helix. Theresa Smolkowski and Janel Chandler really worked hard in the back row. Makenna Cox had some really great tips, and Jordyn Anderson’s sets were right where we needed them to be.”
