LA GRANDE BOYS 2ND, ENTERPRISE GIRLS 6TH

REDMOND — Even though three La Grande boys shot in the 70s at the 3A state tournament at Eagle Crest Resort Course, it was not enough to catch first-place Sisters Tuesday.

Sisters won the state title behind strong individual efforts from David Green, who finished first overall, and Christian Green, who was second.

Sisters shot a 605. La Grande ended up with a 638, 21 strokes ahead of third-place Siuslaw.

La Grande coach Don McAndie was pleased with his team's showing. He said it was the highest finish ever at state for La Grande golf.

"We did what we wanted to do. We knew Sisters was going to be strong," said McAndie said.

He was also pleased that the team shaved 18 strokes off its first-day score of 328. The team shot a 310 the second day, thanks in large part to Todd McAndie's 73, down from 85 the day before.

La Grande's Tyler Tucker took fifth with a 150. Bill Waldrop tied for eighth with a 154. Todd McAndie shot 158, Nick Cornford 176 and Ricky Gloria 180.

Tucker shot a 74 Tuesday while, Waldrop shot a 77.

Enterprise girls finish in top 10

REDMOND — The Enterprise girls tied for ninth at the 3A/2A/1A golf state tournament at Eagle Crest Ridge Course Tuesday.

"Considering that was their first time ever to state, they did really well," said assistant coach Ron Clegg.

Clegg also pointed out that Enterprise was one of only two 2A teams at the 3A/2A/1A girls' tournament.

Enterprise and Taft ended up tied at 812.

Enterprise's Kayla Miller shot a 77 Tuesday and took sixth overall with a 164. Jessica Marcum shot 198, Kayla Stoffel 201, Lacey Nobles 254 and Tera Phinney 256.
