ENTERPRISE — A two-run home run by Anthony Nice helped lift the La Grande 11-12-year-old Little League All-Stars to victory Tuesday at the District 3 Tournment.

La Grande beat Pendleton 6-3 and advanced to Thursday's winners bracket final against Baker City, which beat Ontario 10-6 Tuesday.

Union County and Milton-Freewater were also winners Tuesday in the losers bracket. Josh Nordstrom had five RBIs as Union County came from behind to beat Harney County 9-5, and Milton-Freewater defeated Triangle 9-8.

Two losers bracket games are being played today at the Little League field off Highway 82 on the south side of Enterprise. Ontario meets Milton-Freewater at 2:30 p.m. and Union County plays Pendleton at 5 p.m.

La Grande 6, Pendleton 3

Nice's home run added cushion to a one-run La Grande lead.

"We were up 4-3," La Grande manager Todd Nice said, "when Anthony Nice hit a two-run home run and put us out ahead."

Anthony Nice was 3-for-3 at the plate, and Richie Carmichael drove in two runs.

"We basically came into this game relaxed," Todd Nice said. "That helped us out and helped us play the way we did. All the kids came up ready to play."

La Grande opened the tournament Sunday with a 5-2 win over Milton-Freewater.

Union County 9, Harney 5

Nordstrom had a three-run home run in the second inning.

"We started with a four-run deficit," Union County manager Rocky Burgess said. "They got four runs right off the bat."

Nordstrom's home run helped Union County erase the deficit; he padded the lead in the fourth inning with a two-run double.

Ryan Pagliarulo also hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for Union County.

"We have real strong players with good attitudes," Burgess said. "They carried the game right on through."

Union County lost the tournament opener Saturday 9-4 to Pendleton, then beat Wallowa Valley on Monday, 6-1.

Baker City 10, Ontario 6

Baker City pitcher Mark Bunch had a five-hitter and seven strikeouts.

Ontario scored three runs on three Baker errors in the first inning, but "we played tough defense after that," Baker manager Mike Smith said. "This game we got a couple of clutch hits with guys on second and third."

Tylor Smith had two hits and four RBIs for Baker.
