HERMISTON — La Grande's Crystal Kevan won the 400-meter dash in 67.12 seconds at the Hermiston Time Trials Friday.

Coach Duane Smiley said the rest of the 400 field was not even close to Kevan.

On the girls' side, the 4x400 relay was .36 behind first-place Pendleton. La Grande finished second (53.96). The La Grande relay consisted of Cora Beach, Amanda Timm, Kylee Winkler and Kevan.

Winkler ran the relay with shin splints.

Beach did well in her first varsity meet, Smiley added.

Timm was second in the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches). Her time in the 300 hurdles (49.85) was a personal best.

La Grande's Matt Hibbert beat Riverside's Scott Donovan in the javelin. Hibbert's threw 10 inches farther than Donovan. Hibbert's throw was 142-11.

Smiley said Hibbert had a very good throw.

The boys' 4x400 relay came in second behind first-place Riverside. On the relay were Nathan Humphreys, Kyle Puckett, Rick Anderson and Kelly Burgess.

Puckett ran the anchor leg hurt, Smiley said. He said Burgess had an excellent leg.

Anderson was second in the triple jump (42-5.75). It was his personal best jump.

He barely missed 6-2 in the high jump. He hit the bar with his heels.

Pendleton's Cameron Federline won the high jump with a 6-2 effort.

Smiley said Jackie Wiseman had a good first meet in the 800 and 1,500.

He said all the throwers did well.

Amber Rasmussen's shot put (33-11) was her personal best by over 1 foot.

Smiley said it was a little windy but the team had a good time.

The Tigers resume action at the Pendleton Invite April 2.
