The La Grande soccer girls moved up to fifth in the final 3A coaches' poll released Oct. 30.

La Grande had been floating between sixth and eighth all season in the coaches' poll. The Tigers are 12-1 and have not lost since Sept. 15. La Grande has outscored its opponents this year 59-6.

La Grande begins its playoff run Tuesday against either Oregon Episcopal or Henley.

La Grande played the No. 1 and No. 2-ranked teams in the state this season. The Tigers beat No. 2-ranked Philomath 4-1 Sept. 27 in La Grande, and lost 4-0 Sept. 15 to Catlin Gabel in Portland.

Catlin Gabel has knocked the Tigers out of the playoffs two of the past three years. However, Catlin Gabel is in an opposite bracket from La Grande, and the Tigers will not see Catlin Gabel in the playoffs until the championship match.
