LA GRANDE WINS A PAIR

Chalk up three straight wins for the La Grande Rain Roofing American Legion baseball team.
Rain Roofing defeated Pendleton Dave's 3-1 Wednesday, and also beat Pendleton Hodgen 5-4 in nine innings and 7-2 Tuesday at Optimist Field.
On Wednesday, Rain Roofing's Jordan Lanman drove the ball to the left field fence driving in two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Lanman had a stand-up triple on the play. Rain Roofing led 3-0.
Pendleton Dave's scored one run in the top of the sixth.
Rain Roofing (4-4 overall) had six hits. Lanman had two hits, Mike Nichols, Jeff Smith, Landon Weaver and Bobby Bond had one apiece. Weaver scored two runs and had a double.
Trent Evins pitched five innings for the win. He allowed three hits and fanned seven batters.
Travis Hoskins picked up the save with two scoreless innings.
On Tuesday, Rain Roofing won the first game in the bottom of the ninth. La Grande's Jeremy George hit the game-winning single scoring Chris Price.
Smith pitched five innings, while Curtis Touve came on in relief to pick up the win.
Also Tuesday, Rain Roofing beat Pendleton 7-2 in the second game.

Senior Babe Ruth prevails
After opening the season 0-4, the La Grande Senior Babe Ruth baseball team won its first game Wednesday against Pendleton Dave's 5-1 at Optimist Field.
La Grande's Luke Hines hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third to give the team a 2-0 lead.
Pendleton cut into the lead with one run in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, La Grande padded its lead with two runs. Ryan Dewitt's single scored Landon Weaver in the bottom of the fifth.
Hines pitched five innings for the win. He allowed three hits and struck out four batters. Hines also scored a run.
Trent Evins had two hits and one run. Weaver pitched two scoreless innings and fanned three batters.
