LG BEATS WALLOWA VALLEY, UNION COUNTY TEAMS

PENDLETON La Grande swept past Union Countys and Wallowa Valleys teams in its first two games at the District 3 Boys Minors Little League Baseball Tournament here over the weekend.

La Grande beat Union County 6-2 Sunday and Wallowa Valley 3-0 Saturday. It will play Pilot Rock at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Kevin Boyd pitched a complete game while allowing only two runs against Union County.

Other results of the game were not available.

Union County will play at 6 p.m. tonight in the consolation round of the double-elimination tournament.

On Saturday, La Grande used a three-run fourth inning to beat Wallowa Valley, 3-0.

Zachary Nice pitched a one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts for La Grande. He also added an RBI during the pivotal inning.

Give credit to Nice, he had a good game, Wallowa Valley manager Warren Wilson said. We played really good defense.

Wallowa Valley played at noon today in the consolation round.
