Home arrow Sports arrow LHS GIRLS SHUT OUT FRUITLAND

By The Observer

FRUITLAND, Idaho The results were the same when La Grande traveled to Fruitland, Idaho, Friday.

The last time the two teams met in La Grande, it was the Tiger girls who shut out the Grizzlies. The results were the same this time, as La Grande won 5-0.

In a close boys race, Fruitland edged La Grande 3-2.

The girls side played well, but we still have some things to work on. We had a lot of unforced errors, La Grande coach Mike Schireman said.

La Grandes boys could have picked up a win, Schireman said, had the Tigers No. 1 doubles team been playing.

Greg Schuft and Tyler Lester didnt go on the trip due to team disciplinary reasons. The result was that the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams had to move up one notch to fill in, resulting in two close losses.

I think we could have got (Fruitlands boys) today, Schireman said. Joe Moeller and Collin Edder lost a tiebreaker that was really tight.

La Grande starts Greater Oregon League action this week with three matches, starting Tuesday at Baker. On Thursday, La Grande plays Mac-Hi at Milton-Freewater, and then hosts Vale Saturday.

We should have a better idea where we stand in the Greater Oregon League. Im looking forward to where we match up, Schireman said.
