ENTERPRISE — The La Grande 11-12-year-old Little League baseball team had a great start at the District 3 tournament hosted by Wallowa Valley Little League. “We played pretty well,” La Grande manager Tony Boyd said. “We really started hitting the ball. We played good defense, only committing three errors in two games.” Saturday La Grande edged Harney County, 3-1. La Grande opened the game scoring two runs in the first inning and rode Mitch Workinger’s arm to victory on the mound.La Grande defeated the hosts Wallowa Valley Sunday, 17-0. Brandon Dall hit a home run in his only at-bat. “We’re glad to get some rest,” Boyd said. “We threw only four pitchers. We kept them all under the pitch count, and they will be available for Pilot Rock. “We’re just taking it one game at a time right now and only focusing on our next opponent.” La Grande’s next opponent is Pilot Rock Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Enterprise.
