The La Grande girls soccer team had no problem with Umatilla Saturday, winning, 9-0. “The girls had fun,” La Grande head coach Sarah Androlewicz said. “We scored off opportunities we have not worked on a lot.” The Tigers defeated Umatilla last year 9-0 in La Grande.“We had some corner kick tries that worked very well for us. Umatilla is a new program in only its second year. This was an excellent chance for us to try some new things,” Androlewicz said. Thursday the Tigers will travel to Baker. “The games with Baker have been very competitive. The girls are always ready to face our rivals. We want to play a good game and are looking to improve,” Androlewicz said. La Grande fell to the Bulldogs by a total of two goals in two games last season, 1-0 in the first game and 2-1 in the second.
Tigers slip in GOL play
ONTARIO — The La Grande boys soccer team failed to take advantage of the few chances it had Saturday, falling to Ontario, 3-0. “We didn’t capitalize and they did,” La Grande head coach Zachary Lauritzen said. “There was not a lot of opportunities. Both teams played great defense.” Ontario took six shots on goal and capitalized on three. The Tigers had four shots on goal and got as close as one hitting the crossbar. “The score does not really show how close the game was. We need to work on some things before we play them next. We lost, but we learned some things,” Lauritzen said. The Tigers travel to Baker Thursday to face their rivals. La Grande defeated the Bulldogs 9-0, Sept. 11.
