ONTARIO — The La Grande girls soccer team fell in its first league game, 2-0, at Ontario Thursday. The Tigers gave up both goals in the final 12 minutes of the game. “We played well, but we didn’t have enough depth,” La Grande head coach Sarah Androlewicz said. “We created some offensive attacks, but could not finish.” Ontario’s first goal came off a counter-attack. The Tigers were close to having the first score of the match when Ontario stole the ball and went on a breakaway. Ontario’s second goal came in the 86th minute. “Despite the loss, we still improved. We were passing the ball much better. We just have to learn how to finish,” Androlewicz said. La Grande hosts Umatilla Saturday. “(Umatilla) is a newer program. Their coach is in his second year. We beat them last year pretty well. I’m hoping this year’s game will be a little more competitive,” Androlewicz said. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. at La Grande Middle School. |
