La Grande finishes off Mac-Hi

It’s all come down to this for the La Grande volleyball team. A win Thursday night against Ontario and the Tigers will make the playoffs. A loss and La Grande will have to stay home. “We put ourselves in a must-win situation,” La Grande head coach Melinda Becker said after the Tigers 3-0 win against Mac-Hi Tuesday night. The Tigers had no trouble dismantling the Pioneers, winning 25-16, 25-7 and 25-17. The Tigers never trailed throughout the match and got back to serving the ball with accuracy.Becker was able to use the majority of her players in the match, and players such as Tessa Tsiatsos and Kimmy Jackman stepped up for the Tigers in a much-needed victory. “This was really a team effort tonight,” Becker said. “It was good to get my bench players in there and see them step up when we needed them to.” Shelby Hasse and Brittany Elliot each had 11 assists for LHS. Cheyenne Ashley finished with nine kills and Aleia May chipped in with five kills. The Tigers honored its eight seniors before the match. La Grande will finish the season on the road against Ontario Thursday night with the winner advancing its season. The match will start at 7 p.m. |
