La Grande finishes third at EOU team camp, Outlaws take fifth place

The La Grande High School basketball team is not taking a break this summer. The Tiger varsity and junior varsity teams were a part of the Eastern Oregon University men’s basketball team camp tournament Saturday and Sunday. La Grande’s varsity team won two of its three games in pool play earning the third seed in bracket play. But the Tigers were upset in the semifinals by La Pine. La Grande defeated Enterprise in the third place game. The Outlaws had a very successful tournament winning two of its three pool play games and advancing into the semifinals in bracket play. “I think the camp was a huge success,” EOU men’s basketball head coach Isaac Williams said. “I was impressed with the talent displayed throughout the weekend. I think the local teams really had a good weekend and should be proud.”Anchorage, Alaska’s Dimond High School’s varsity team went undefeated on the weekend and defeated La Pine in the championship game. Dimond was not the only school to make a long trip to the camp, North Delta High School traveled from Vancouver, Canada.
