After dropping the first set (3-6), she rebounded with 6-4 and 6-2 wins.

In the doubles, Anna Grigsby and Lauren Mills won a 6-0, 6-2 decision over Ontario’s top doubles team.

Boys fall in 5-0 sweep

In the boys competition at La Grande High School, it was the visiting Tigers that swept through for a 5-0 victory.

“We’re really young out there. We have some out there who only picked up a racket about eight days ago,” said La Grande’s Mike Schireman as he watched his team play from courtside.

La Grande’s Tanner Willson dropped a two-set decision to Ontario’s top singles player, Valentin Morales.

Sage Nakamura of Ontario handed freshman Josh Ebel a 6-2, 6-0 loss in the second singles, while Levi Lewis gave Ontario a sweep of singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sheylan Sands.

In doubles, Ontario’s Quincy Sullivan and Bill Garcia handed Derek Yohannen and Caleb Owens of la Grande a 6-0, 6-3 loss.

In the second doubles, Ontario made it a sweep with Alex Gallegos and Kaleb Price’s win over
La Grande’s Josh Ebel and Wyatt Schlaht.
